I'm an active researcher at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) in Brighton (UK), working on different projects in the field of gender, gender-based violence, conflict and development.

My doctoral thesis has been written as part of the EUSECON project (www.economics-of-security.eu) at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin, Germany). While the focus of the thesis was on the impact of terrorism on perceptions and attitudes across Europe, I more recently started to engage with work analysing the impact of more regular forms of violence.

Before my Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship at IDS between 2012 - 2014, I've been engaged in projects with UN Women and ActionAid/Womankind International, investigating the role of women in peacebuilding and recovery. Reports on these projects are available in the Resume under Policy Reports

I have recently undertaken several pieces of work on violence against women and girls, and access to justice for survivors of such violence. For example, reserach in Gaza was aimed at better understanding the interactions and impact of active violent conflict on VAW in fragile situations. Experiences of violence in different spaces, as well as responses, coping strategies and mechanisms of support were the main focus of this project. Another project in the West Bank focused on DFID's component on support to PA efforts to tackle violence against women. It assessed whether DFID’s programme has helped improve women’s access to justice and security, and combat violence against women; thus providing valuable input for the design and delivery of upcoming programmes.

Currently, I'm finalising qualitative and quantitative research on domestic violence in Ghana, which will inform the design and targeting of advocacy and policy interventions. As project manager and co-I, I was actively involved in the design of quantitative and qualitative fieldwork and research tools, the preparation and implementation of the data collection, data analysis and the writing of reports and policy briefs.

Projects reports, policy briefs and other outputs can be found on the project links above, or are linked to on my Resume & Papers page.
